Scissor clamp
Definition
A scissor clamp is a clamp-shaped BDSMinstrument that uses a scissor mechanism to apply pressure to the skin, nipples, labia, or other suitable body parts, with the aim of creating pain stimuli, arousal, and control.

Explanation of scissor clamp
A scissor clamp gets its name from the scissor-like mechanism with which it opens and closes. This lever system allows relatively little hand force to provide firm, controlled pressure. Scissor clamps come in various shapes and sizes, ranging from narrow metal clamps to wider models with rubber tips or adjustable screws that allow the pressure to be finely tuned.
In a BDSM context, scissor clamps are of ten used in pain play, nipple torture, or prolonged sessions in which intense stimulation is desired. Due to the hinge mechanism, the pressure often feels more direct than with classic clothes pins or American nipple clamps. The sensation can vary from mildly pinching to sharp and intense. Some Dominants like to use scissor clamps as part of medical play.
Scissor clamps are also often seen as more “professional” looking than hobby materials such as clothespins or clamps. They are widely used by experienced Dommes and Pro Dommes because of their reliability, predictable pressure, and the possibility of precise control. Many subs describe the experience as intense but ‘pure’: no abrupt teeth or rough edges, but a gradual, constant pressure that immediately appeals to the nervous system.
Safety & points of attention
Although a scissor clamp is relatively easy to use, it does require knowledge of the body and good coordination with the sub. This is because the lever quickly creates higher pressure than one might expect.
Place scissor clamps in areas where there is sufficient tissue and avoid thin skin, large blood vessels, or areas with many nerve pathways that are easily damaged.
During play, regularly check for discoloration, numbness, or sharp pain: a tingling sensation is normal, but intense, burning pain or numbness may mean that the blood supply has been cut off for too long.
Never leave a scissor clamp in place for too long. A few minutes is fine, but prolonged clamping increases the risk of tissue damage or nerve irritation.
Be extra careful when adding weights or pulling tension. If in doubt, always remove immediately.
As with all clamps, the moment of release can be more painful than the application, due to the blood flowing back. Warn a sub about this, especially beginners.
Hygiene is important: metal scissor clamps are easy to clean. Never use clamps on the genitals and then on nipples or lips without disinfecting them in between.
