Definition
A metrosexual is a heterosexual man who pays a lot of attention to his appearance, grooming, fashion, and lifestyle, often with a refined or aesthetic look that used to be considered “feminine.” The term combines metropolitan (urban) and sexual and refers to the modern, self-aware man who values comfort and style.
Explanation of metrosexual
The term metrosexual became popular in the 1990s and early 2000s, mainly due to media personalities and celebrities who broke with traditional male images. A metrosexual man often lives in the city, visits gyms, beauty salons, or fashion stores, and values personal care, design, and quality. His appeal lies in his refinement: he is not afraid of aesthetics, emotion, or gentleness, but remains masculine at the same time.
Within the BDSM world, the metrosexual type is common among men who consciously embrace their sensuality. These men dare to pay attention to scent, clothing, posture, and appearance – elements that play an important role in Femdom and D/s play. It is a form of self-expression that shows that strength and grooming are not mutually exclusive.
Although the term was originally intended to describe a social trend, it has now also become a symbol of personal freedom: letting go of traditional role patterns and allowing gentleness within masculinity.
