A darkroom is a specially equipped, darkened room where sexual or erotic interaction can take place, often with minimal lighting and limited visual stimuli. Within BDSM and fetish contexts, a darkroom is used to enhance anonymity, sensory focus, and excitement.
Explanation of darkrooms
Darkrooms are mainly found in clubs, saunas, and fetish venues and are originally strongly associated with gay and leather culture, but are also used in broader BDSM and kink settings. Due to the lack of light, the experience shifts from seeing to feeling, hearing, and intuitive sensing. This can intensify the experience and create a feeling of disinhibition or temporary rolelessness.
