Explanation of strap-on dildo

The strap-on dildo is a versatile tool within BDSM. It allows the wearer – often the Dominant – to penetrate without relying on their own erection or genitals. For female Dominatrixes, it is a popular tool because it makes their physical dominance tangible and adds an extra layer of power, intimacy, and play.

The experience varies from person to person: subs often experience it as intensely submissive, confrontational, or erotic, especially when used in combination with bondage techniques, dirty talk, humiliation play, or controlled penetration. In pegging (where a woman penetrates a man), power exchange plays a central role: the roles are reversed, which can be exciting and liberating for both partners.

Strap-on dildos come in all shapes, materials, and sizes – from realistic to abstract, from soft silicone to firm – and the harness can be made of leather, elastic, or latex. Some models have double dildos so that the wearer is internally stimulated, which increases the connection and excitement for both parties.

Safety and points of attention

As with all penetrative play, lubricant is an absolute must, especially for anal use.

A strap-on dildo should always be made of body-safe material such as medical-grade silicone and should be thoroughly cleaned after use.

For anal penetration, it is best to use a dildo with a good base so that it remains stable in the harness and cannot be inserted too deeply.

Pay attention to body language and breathing – penetrating too quickly or too hard can cause pain, tears, or other injuries.

Communicate about pace, depth, and direction. Many harnesses are adjustable: make sure it fits snugly so that the Dominant has good control, but not so tight that it causes discomfort.

When the same dildo is used vaginally and anally, it must be thoroughly cleaned in between or the condom must be changed.

With pegging, it is especially important to build up slowly because the anal sphincter needs to get used to it.
