Explanation of ring gag

Whereas a classic ball gag closes the mouth, a ring gag does exactly the opposite: it keeps the mouth wide open. The ring is placed between the teeth and secured behind the head with straps. This prevents the sub from closing their mouth, swallowing, or talking normally, which creates a strong feeling of vulnerability and surrender.

Ring gags are used in a variety of play scenarios: from power play and control to oral domination. They reinforce the feeling of “being at the mercy of” because the sub no longer has control over their mouth, facial expressions, or sound. The open structure also makes the ring gag suitable for play with saliva, deep oral-focused experiences, or as part of visual humiliation.

The size of the ring determines the intensity: a wider ring feels more confrontational and puts more strain on the jaw joint, while a smaller ring is more subtle and remains comfortable for longer. Wearing a ring gag therefore always requires attention, calm, and good communication.

Safety & points of attention

A ring that is too large can overload the jaw joint; start with smaller diameters.

Saliva production increases. Be aware of the risk of choking; never let the sub lie on their back.

Do not use a ring gag if there are jaw problems. TMJ complaints, jaw pain, or hypermobility make the risk too great.

Do not wear for long periods of time. The jaw and lips can quickly become tired.

Pay attention to the teeth. Metal rings can put pressure on teeth; if in doubt, use a rubber-coated version.

Ring gags go directly into the mouth; thorough cleaning is essential.
