Explanation of pee play

Pee play come in many different forms and degrees, depending on preferences, boundaries, and dynamics within a relationship or D/s connection. For some people, urine is primarily a symbol of submission, ownership, or surrender; for others, it is the taboo nature of it that plays a role in the excitement.

Pee play can range from having to watch someone urinate to receiving it on the body or in the mouth (golden showers). Within a D/s dynamic, urine play can also become ritualistic: as confirmation of ownership, as part of humiliation, or as intense sensory play.

The experience can be deeply affecting, both mentally and physically. For some, it is about the warmth, the wet feeling, the smell, or being completely caught up in the moment; for others, it is about the emotional layer of surrender or breaking through an inner barrier.

However, Pee play is not always humiliating. In some relationships, it is experienced as an intimate, almost confidential game, because there is literally and figuratively no more shame between partners. It is a form of exposure that you would not readily share with someone if there is no basis of consent, safety, and connection.

Safety & points of attention

Health and hygiene are essential. Urine is generally clean when a person is healthy, but it always contains bacteria. Avoid urine play if you have a bladder infection, fever, STIs, or are taking antibiotics.

Avoid contact with the eyes. Urine can burn or irritate the eyes.

Do not play on open wounds or irritated skin. This increases the risk of infection.

Risks of drinking urine

Although healthy urine is generally relatively “clean,” drinking urine (oral urine sex) carries additional health risks. Urine contains waste products that the body has excreted, such as urea, salts, ammonia, and small amounts of bacteria. When you reintroduce these substances, the body has to work harder to break them down and excrete them again.

Drinking urine is therefore not recommended for people with kidney problems, as it puts extra strain on the kidneys. The concentration of waste products in urine can also be higher if someone is dehydrated, has a fever, or is taking antibiotics or other strong medication. This makes it harder for the body to process it safely.

In addition, bacteria can be transmitted through urine, for example in the case of a (yet undetected) bladder infection. This can cause a sore throat, stomach problems or, in rare cases, an infection. Although the risk is usually small with one-time consumption, it does require conscious and careful play.

For safe oral urine sex, therefore: only do this if both partners are healthy, consciously choose small amounts, and avoid it completely if there is illness, medication use, or doubt about the health of the Dominant or sub.
