Crossdressing is the wearing of clothing and/or accessories traditionally associated with the opposite sex. Within BDSM and fetishism, this can have an erotic, expressive, or humiliating element, depending on the context and dynamics.
Explanation of crossdressing
Crossdressing is a broad term that refers to wearing clothing that is typically seen in society as “belonging to the opposite sex.” For men, this often means wearing dresses, lingerie, makeup, or high heels; for women, it can mean wearing masculine men’s clothing, suits, or accessories that emphasize masculinity.
Crossdressing is common in the BDSM and fetish world, with varying motivations. For some, it is a way to express a hidden side of themselves and experience freedom outside of social norms. For others, it has a clear erotic connotation, with the clothing being part of sexual arousal. In Femdom dynamics, crossdressing is sometimes used as compulsory role-play or humiliation play, in which the submissive must consciously wear women’s clothing as a symbol of surrender or to emphasize the power relationship.
Gender identity
It is important to note that crossdressing does not automatically say anything about a person’s gender identity or sexual preference. Many people who crossdress do not identify as transgender, but enjoy the expression, role-playing, or erotic tension that comes with it.
