Keyholder
Definition
A keyholder is, within BDSM, the person who keeps the key to a chastity belt or CB worn by the sub. The keyholder has control over whether or not to open or remove the chastity device and thus indirectly determines if, when, and how the sub can experience sexual gratification.

Explanation of keyholder
The term keyholder refers to a unique power dynamic that is often part of chastity play, in which the sub completely surrenders his or her sexuality to the Dominant. The key literally becomes a symbol of power, trust, and control. A keyholder can be a Mistress, Dominant, or even a partner who keeps the key at a distance (virtually). In many cases, a game of seduction, tension, and mental surrender is built up, in which waiting, obeying, and yearning play a central role.
Some subs experience this as extremely intense, because it involves not only physical abstinence, but also mental surrender: the keyholder determines when desire is rewarded or prolonged. The role of the keyholder can vary from loving and caring to strict and sadistic, depending on the nature of the D/s relationship. The key can be kept physically or digitally sealed via apps or sealing systems, adding an extra dimension to the distance between keyholder and sub.
Safety & points of attention
Although chastity play and keyholding can evoke a lot of emotional and psychological tension, it is important that both parties make clear agreements about safety, hygiene, and accessibility.
The key must always be available in an emergency, for example via an emergency key or a pre-agreed code.
Wearing a chastity cage for too long without breaks can lead to physical complaints, skin irritation, or circulation problems.
Communication remains essential, especially in long-term chastity relationships.
A sensible keyholder takes the sub’s health into account and feels responsible for both the physical and mental balance of the whole.
