Harness
Definition
A harness is a garment or bondage device that partially or completely encases the body, often made of leather, latex, metal, or rope. Within BDSM, a harness is used as a decorative, sensual, or functional tool to emphasize power, restraint, or beauty.

Explanation of harness
The harness has its origins in medieval knight protection, but in the BDSM world it has taken on a completely different meaning. Here it symbolizes surrender, strength, and aesthetics. A harness can accentuate the body, influence posture, or impose physical restrictions. Some harnesses are purely decorative – think of leather straps that run tightly around the upper body or artfully knotted rope patterns (rope harnesses) – while others actually serve to restrict movement or are used as part of bondage.
Harnesses come in many forms: from a simple chest or hip harness to a full-body harness or metal cage construction. For female subs, it often accentuates the breasts, waist, and hips; for male subs, it emphasizes the chest, shoulders, and genitals. Many Mistresses also wear harnesses themselves, not out of submission, but as an expression of power, beauty, and authority.
Wearing a harness can have a profound psychological effect. The feeling of enclosure, restriction, or visible “possession” enhances the experience of surrender or control. At the same time, it is a visually powerful element in photo shoots, rituals, or public BDSM events.
Safety & points of attention
Make sure the harness is not too tight. It must be possible to breathe properly, especially around the chest and abdomen.
Check the leather and metal for sharp edges or loose parts that could cause skin irritation.
Clean the harness after use, especially if it has come into contact with skin or sweat.
A well-fitting harness can be a powerful tool in the dynamic between Dominant and sub, provided it is used with attention, knowledge, and care.
