Door cuffs
Definition
Door cuffs are a tool used in BDSM to restrain someone to a door. They usually consist of sturdy cuffs or restraints that are hung over the top of a door with a strap or belt, so that the submissive is fixed in an upright position, often with their arms raised.

Explanation of door cuffs
Door cuffs are popular because they are easy to use, do not require permanent installation, and allow for a direct, intimate form of bondage. They usually consist of two wrist cuffs connected to nylon straps or belts with a sturdy fastening loop. This loop is hung over the door, after which the door is closed. Once closed, the construction is firmly secured between the door and the frame.
The result is a realistic, slightly uncomfortable but safe position: the submissive stands or hangs half upright with their arms raised, automatically bringing their chest and stomach forward. This not only creates a visually powerful posture, but also a feeling of vulnerability and surrender. The body is exposed and the Dominant can easily play with touch, pain stimuli, or seduction.
Various applications
Door cuffs are often used in spanking, tease & denial, bondage, or sensory play. They can also be part of role play, for example as a form of punishment, interrogation, or humiliation. The physical position forces surrender without necessarily being painful. Many submissives describe the moment when the door closes and the cuffs tighten as the tipping point at which control is relinquished.
Safety & points of attention
Although door cuffs seem relatively simple and safe, there are important considerations. The position with the arms above the head can be difficult, especially during prolonged use. The Dominant must therefore pay close attention to signs of discomfort or pinching.
Some important guidelines:
Always use soft or padded cuffs to prevent cuts and pressure marks.
Ensure that the door is sturdy and cannot open unexpectedly. Preferably use an interior door that opens outwards, so that the weight of the submissive rests against the door frame.
Do not leave the submissive hanging for too long; blood flow to the arms can be restricted, causing tingling or numbness.
Keep the feet in contact with the floor or a firm surface so that the full body weight is not hanging on the wrists.
Remain present and alert; a tied-up person should never be left unattended.
