Bi-curious
Definitie

Explanation of Bi-curious
Being bi-curious literally means being curious about bisexuality. Not as a fixed orientation, but as a desire or fantasy that falls outside the familiar. Someone who calls themselves bi-curious is actually saying, “I don’t know exactly how I feel yet, but I’m willing to explore.”
The term is commonly used in BDSM – often in profiles or in the context of sessions that explore sexual dynamics, gender roles, or power relationships. Think of a female sub who is curious about a session with a dominant woman. Or a male Dom who is open to a submissive experience with another man. Or couples who engage in a session with someone of the same sex to explore feelings of excitement, jealousy, or confusion.
Bi-curious versus bisexual
Being bi-curious does not automatically mean that someone is or will become bisexual. It is more of a phase, a possibility, a playing field in which desires can be explored without labels or obligations. It is precisely within the openness of BDSM -where fantasy, role-playing, and exploring boundaries are central – that this curiosity can find a safe basis.
At the same time, the concept also deserves careful consideration. In some contexts, the bi-curious label is misused to appear “cool,” to fetishize another person, or to obscure unclear boundaries. Especially in personal ads or online profiles, it is good to gauge whether this is genuine curiosity or sexual projection.
For the other person – who is certain of their orientation – it can be complicated to get involved with someone who is “maybe” curious. That is why clear communication remains essential here as well. Being bi-curious is a personal journey of discovery, not a ticket to experimentation at the expense of another person.
